Elijah C. Nealy, Ph.D., M. Div., LCSW
Elijah Nealy brings over 25 years experience as a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He has worked in a variety of addiction and mental health settings, both residential and outpatient. For 12 years he worked at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Community Center in New York City. Initially serving as the program director for alcohol and drug counseling, then the overall director of mental health services for adolescents and adults, and finally as the Deputy Executive Director of the Center.
Elijah is an out transgender man, in recovery many years, and a parent.He is also affiliated with Metropolitan Community Church (essays topics for high school students), a denomination that works primarily in the LGBT communities and have served as both a pastor and a regional director. He is a full time faculty member at Columbia University School of Social Work and teach adjunct at Union Theological Seminary. He teaches courses in clinical practice in health & mental health care, spirituality and social work practice, and LGBT concerns. Elijah also teaches post-graduate seminars in clinical work with the transgender community at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York City.
Currently Elijah maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Westchester County, New York. He specializes in work with transgender and gender nonconforming children, youth, and adults, and their families.
