LOFT Staff Profile: David Juhren, Executive Director
With years of gay rights activism and non-profit leadership under his belt, David Juhren is the Executive Director of The LOFT: The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center based in White Plains. The center serves the Lower Hudson Valley, and through its programs and services supports and enriches the lives of LGBT individuals, their families, and supportive communities.
A trained peer group facilitator, Juhren was a group leader at The LOFT’s Men’s Group for several years, and has written a number of articles about the LGBT community, including issues on coming out, gay youth, LGBT seniors. He also appeared before regional legislatures on behalf of LGBT equality. Juhren sits on the Executive Committees of a number of LGBT boards, is one of the founders of the Westchester Pride Coalition, and has been a consultant to a number of LGBT faith-based organizations. He is often invited to speak at events and educate people about the importance of acceptance, inclusion, and equality of the LGBT community.
Juhren holds a degree in Government Administration from Mercy College, is a father of two, and lives with his partner, Michael, in Cold Spring.
